The School of Information Technology at RGTU was established in 2002-03. School of Information Technology offers B Tech Computer Science and Business Systems as well as M. Tech. in Information Technology and M Tech in Data Sciences. These courses prepare young graduates to take state of art challenges as required by the industry and R & D organizations Information Technology is a field that continues to evolve at a rate faster than other disciplines. Advances in the field have resulted in significant developments in Information and Communication Technologies, which in turn, has had a tremendous impact on the way research, is conducted. As a result the school has increased its emphasis on research during the last few years. I take much pride to announce that within a short span of five years, the department has made a mark in ICT and Computing research especially in the area of Mobile Computing, Datamining, Soft computing, Information Security and Image Processing, which is evident from the magnitude of contribution to scientific literature. Encouraged by the continual success in the field of our research interest, the department is planning to set up a Special Interest Group in the area of Mobile Communication with close collaboration with universities of international repute and the leading industries of the area, which shall be focused on the design and development of new technologies for betterment of mankind. This department shall start an international journal on recent issues in information and communication technologies to provide a forum to the researchers and scientists. Realizing the need for the development of interdisciplinary research activities so as to strengthen and broaden our field, the Department has initiated close collaboration with other local and international academic as well as industrial institutions in the areas of nanotechnology, bioinformatics, middleware technologies, service oriented architecture and sensor networks. The department continues to contribute to advances in Information Technology and is striving to improve its position as one of the leading school in India.


1: Engineering Knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
2: Problem Analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
3: Design/Development of Solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
4: Conduct Investigations of Complex Problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
5: Modern Tool Usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modelling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
6: The Engineer and Society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.
7: Environment and Sustainability: Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.
8: Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the engineering practice.
9: Individual and Team Work: Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams, and in multidisciplinary settings.
10: Communication: Communicate effectively on complex engineering activities with the engineering community and with society at large, such as, being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentation, make effective presentations, and give and receive clear instructions.
11: Project Management and Finance: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the engineering and management principles and apply these to one’s own work, as a member and leader in a team, to manage projects and in multidisciplinary environments.
12: Life-long Learning: Recognize the need for, and have the preparation and ability to engage in independent and life-long learning in the broadest context of technological change.


PO1: An ability to independently carry out research/investigation and development work to solve practical problems.
PO2: An ability to write and present a substantial technical report/document.
PO3: Students should be able to demonstrate a degree of mastery over the area as per the specialization of the program. The mastery should be at a level higher than the requirements in the appropriate bachelor program.

Industry needs employable and contributory technocrats in required domain for its growth. TCS, regularly partners with academic institutions across India as part of its Academic Interface Program (AIP) to build industry relevant curriculum and industry ready workforce.

TCS in collaboration with School of Information Technology, RGPV is starting a unique program B. Tech. (Computer Science & Business Systems), from academic session 2020-2021 which aims towards producing employable engineering graduands to be a part of the nation building

Goal :
To develop an engineering graduate with the might of industry supported and relevant curriculum to address rapidly changing industry landscape in the industry 4.0 arena.

Salient Features of the Syllabus:
  • The curriculum of program is industry oriented.
  • Introduction of Industry Offered Elective in each semester of 4thYear (Sem VII & VIII).
  • Six Core elective courses spread over third and fourth year.
  • One elective course offered in each semester (Sem V & Sem VI) of 3rd Year
  • Two elective courses offered in each semester (Sem VII & Sem VIII) of 4th Year.
  • Industrial project (8 weeks) in the 4th year will be supported by TCS.
  • Industrial training (4 weeks) in the 3rd year will be supported by TCS
  • TCS will offer internship and opportunity of working on live projects to selected students undergoing this program at TCS offices to make them industry ready.

  • TCS will be actively involved in the faculty development exercise and assist partially in teaching of the program.
  • The curriculum is developed by closely working with eminent professionals from the industry and Academia.
