Born in September 1958 at Indore in Madhya Pradesh, Professor Piyush Trivedi graduated in Pharmacy from Indore University in 1979. He obtained his post graduate degree in Pharmacy (M. Pharm) from Sagar University in 1981 and started his career in teaching from Holkar Science College, Indore.

In the year 2003, he was Founder Head of the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya, Bhopal and is currently the Vice Chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya, the University of Technology of Madhya Pradesh.

Professor Trivedi has over 30 years of experience of Teaching, Research and Administration at various levels. In his glorious career as teacher, Prof. Trivedi has imparted knowledge to the students by nurturing their understanding of fundamental concepts and by developing problem-solving skills, they need for their academic advancement. He has also made significant contribution in the establishment of School of Pharmaceutical Sciences and transform it into world class knowledge enterprise with state-of-the art research facility as Dean, Faculty of Pharmacy.

Besides teaching at UG and PG levels, Professor Trivedi has made significant contributions to R & D in the area of anti cancer and anti HIV drug design and discovery. He has mentored 09 Ph. D scholars and published over 80 research papers in journals of international repute and has undertaken a number of R&D and the Computer Administrated Drug Discovery (CADD) is area of research of Prof. Trivedi.

In addition to his role as a Professor & world renowned researcher, Prof. Trivedi has organized and served various committees, constituted for the development of the Institute and University. He is life member of various national and international professional bodies.

In Aug 2008, Prof. Trivedi was appointed as Vice-Chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya, Madhya Pradesh, a state Technological University. Since then his efforts were focused to excel MP and the university in technical education.

His significant achievements as the Vice Chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya, are curriculum innovation, introduction of yearly Chancellor’s scholarship for meritorious undergraduate students of Engineering and Pharmacy disciplines, Implementation of “Finish School Concept” in the university, establishment of Academic Staff College and promotion of industry relevant research in the University.

Prof. Trivedi has also made significant contribution towards implementation of IT enabled services like as Mobile Banking, Cashless Campus etc.

Prof. Trivedi has envisioned and implemented a transparent, accountable and responsible system ‘RGPV Service Portal’ in the University. Prof. Trivedi has taken keen initiative to provide all the RGPV services to all its stake holders i.e. student community, institutions etc., through University portal this year and approximately 1.75 Lakh enrolled students of the University have been provided with a unique identification.

The Government of Madhya Pradesh has appointed Prof. Trivedi as Director of M.P. Power Generating Co. Ltd. in the year 2009. Prof. Trivedi is involved in various capacities, such as Regional Committee of AICTE, Executive Council of M.P. Council of Science & Technology etc.
